Baby Noah: 35 Weeks

Well I am really slow at blogging lately, and almost a full week late posting Noah's 35th week update. We have lots new lately with Noah, as he is growing and changing at lightning speed it seems. It's also been so busy lately, and finding the time to blog has been hard!

Weight: Still hovering around the 20 lbs mark! I'd say he is between 28-30 inches long.
Two turkeys!

Health: Still hasn't had any real illnesses to report on. Fingers crossed!!

Sleep: Well this week has been a bit more consistant, down for the night around 7-7:30pm and mostly one wakeup around 3am and I quickly nurse him back to sleep within a few mins by feeding him. 2 naps, one at 9/9:30 and the other around 1:30/2pm. They last anywhere from 1 hours to 2.5 hours. He goes down awake and on his own, and normally plays and rolls around for 10-15 minutes before going to sleep (unless someone is here babysitting and then he gets rocked).
Thanks Auntie Kyla for my new favorite shirt!

Social: We spent a pretty low key weekend last weekend, one day at the cottage and the other day at home relaxing. Nanna came in on Monday, and I was able to go to the beach for the day, it was lovely. Not too many playdates lately as everyone has been busy! We had family friends here visiting as well.

Diet: Well Noah has been almost refusing to breastfeed lately. It is a constant struggle between me and him to get him to take any. I don't know if he is just too busy and doesn't want to stop, or if he is starting to try and wean (seems way way too early for that?). The only times I can get him to feed well is when he is really sleepy. I still try to offer it at 8am, noon, 4pm and bedtime and make sure I offer it before solids, but it doesn't seem to matter. I am worried he isn't getting enough. We recently started giving him lunch every day consistently and I wonder if that doesn't have something to do with it? Normally he gets cereal mixed with apple/pear/banana at 9am, yogurt and avocado and/or toast at 1pm and then protein a veg and a fruit at supper. He is enjoying chicken lately (finally) and really hasn't refused anything we have offered him!
Bathtime at the cottage is so much fun!

Clothes: All 12 months and some 12-18 months. Size 3 diapers. We tried to upgrade to size 4 but he was peeing out the sides since they are still too big.

Baby Gear Love: Still likes things that play music and lights up. He is so over the exercuaser and the playmat has been put away for a few months now.
 Family Beach day!

Crying: When he gets his bum changed, when he is overtired.

Likes: Well he is back to loving bath time again (thank goodness) and has baths in the big tub now. He likes standing up and holding on to the ottoman. Likes the beach and swinging!
Swinging

Dislikes: He does not like to be rocked or held like a baby. I try to feed him/rock him and he struggles to try and sit up the whole time. He does not like to be left alone to play during supper time, and would prefer to be the centre of attention!

Loves to hold his own bottle!

Postpartum: Nothing new here, my hair is growing back and driving me crazy. Feeling like I am finally back to the level of running I was at before I got pregnant...finally! I am still within 5 pounds of my pre-pregnancy weight but I am in no big rush to lose that. I know I am likely still hanging on to it due to breastfeeding and it will come off eventually.

Fun at the cottage!

Here's to another great summer week! xo

1/2 Marathon Training - Week #1

So my sister and I decided a few months back that we would train for the PEI 1/2 marathon in October of this year. I had been running here and there the past few months or so, but not consistent as I was pre-pregnancy. Most training programs are anywhere from 12-16 weeks, so around the 1st of July we decided we had to get serious. Well then the weather got hot, and the evenings were far too hot to run. And mornings with a baby, well exercise just doesn't happen before 8am for this momma. So for a few weeks our training was off/on. Last week the weather cooled down, so I figured I'd start blogging about our training to keep ourselves accountable. We decided we would try to get in 3-4 runs a week, one of those being a long run that we would do together. The short runs, we would schedule and do on our own.

Week #1 - July 21-27th

Monday- Monday was warm, and I knew by evening it would be even hotter, so while Noah took his morning nap I jumped on the treadmill for a short 2.5 mile tempo run. I ran at an 8:34 pace, and it took me just over 22 minutes to complete. I felt pretty good considering I hadn't run on the treadmill for months.

Tuesday - Tuesday was cold and rainy...perfect running conditions in my book! I through on my old running sneaks and drove to the mall as there is a great trail that bypasses there. I hooked onto the trail and did a 4 mile run at a slower 9:06/mile pace. I hadn't ran 4 miles in awhile and didn't want to push it. I was soaked and dirty when I got back, but felt great while running. Best 4 miles I had run in ages.

Wednesday - Well this was long run day. It was overcast most of the day, but humid. Just before we left for our run at 4:30, the sun came out and it was hot. Like 85% humidity, gross, sweaty hot!! I took my waist-pack with two 10 oz bottles with me but even those didn't help.  We did a 6 mile route, but had to stop 3 times for walk breaks. All we ran was 5 miles. We felt defeated. The heat really did us in. I've never been more happy to get home from a run in all my life.

Thursday - Thursday I took the day off from running and did a hot yoga flow class. It was just what I needed after getting my arse kicked on Wednesday.

Friday/Saturday/Sunday - Off

The week started off strong, but after Wednesday's run I felt a little defeated. Hoping this week things go a little smoother! Until next week! xo

Noah 8 Months

Well Noah Charlie is 8 months old this week. I know I keep saying it, but each month just keeps getting funner and funner. He is developing and learning more each day and he is changing in so many ways. Couldn't love this little man any more, and I really wish time would slow the heck down!!

I weighed him this week and he is just over 20 lbs. So he hasn't grown all that much since 5.5-6 months. In all 12 month clothing and some of those are getting small.I bought all these adorable summer clothes while we were in Florida thinking 12 months would be fine and he has barely worn some of them and they are already too small. Size 3 diapers still, but won't be in them much longer.

Baby boy loves to eat, I am so thankful for that. We are starting to get a bit more adventurous in what we offer him. New this week is plain yogurt, watermelon and toast. All of which he likes. So far he's had blueberries, cantelope, peaches, pears, apples, watermelon, banana, sweet potato, squash, carrots. Hope to try steamed broccoli, lentils and chickpeas soon too, and some other finger foods. We give him mum mums and puffs for snacks. He has been mostly having 2 solid meals a day, but days that we are home all day I've been also offering him lunch as well. He is still breastfeeding 4 times a day, and normally once overnight.

Let's see, Noah now sits completely unassisted and is working on going from sitting to his belly on his own. He moves all around in the plank position and kind of throws himself forward using his toes. He still can't quite figure out how to get his knees under him bum in order to crawl.

Sleep is still touch and go. We had his first two overnight visits last week, within a week of each other. Overall they went pretty well! He was up once both times, however the 2nd night away from home it took him a few hours to go back to sleep. Since he hasn't been home in his own bed, and because we are on the go more in the evenings because its summer, his schedule is thrown a little. Instead of waking once a night like he was doing, this week he's been all over the place sometimes up twice a night. The only good thing about that is that he sleeps in until 7:30-8am. He is taking two naps, normally at 9am and again around 1pm. They range between an hour to two hours, depending on the day. Normally one short, and one long.

We have 3 teeth, the bottom two and the top left has recently made an appearance. He had one cranky day when the top one came through, but otherwise, has been super happy. I expect the other top tooth wont be far behind!

Noah has such a happy personality, and loves attention (and definitely does not lack it either!!). He is always smiling unless he is really tired, and has no fear of strangers. He'll happily be passed around a room from person to person.

This boy is talking up a storm, and its a race between hubs and I as to whether his first word will be Mama or Dada. I don't think it technically counts unless he looks directly at us and says it. He's been babbling like crazy making lots of different sounds, so I figure its only a matter of time before he pops one out.

He has a new obsession with our kitty Jax, who has been keeping a low profile ever since Noah made his arrival into our family. Noah watches him and tries to grab him everywhere he goes. We let him pet him sometimes and his face just lights up. He is hating his baths in the normal tub. He has totally outgrown his baby bath so the past two weeks we've been putting him in the big bath with duckies and toys. It started off great, but the past week or so he screams like we are hurting him and he freaks out until we take him out. So our "fun" bath time has gone from fun to wash him and get him the heck out as fast as possible!! He also loves being outside. We've been spending alot of time at our cottage, so my parents went out and got him a tree swing and he loves life in that swing. We also take him in the hammock and he takes his naps outside on the deck in the pack'n'play...adorable. He loves walks, and sitting and playing in the shade.

I've been feeling pretty good lately, my hair is growing back and I've had more energy than ever before. My sister and I started training last week for the half marathon in October, we did our first long run together last week 5 miles. I did it again last night by myself. We are doing our short runs on our own, but get together once a week to try and do our long run together.

I was also a bridesmaid in my best friend's wedding on Saturday. It was a beautiful day, and she was such a gorgeous bride. The day was so chill and so fun, and although I missed my little boy, it was fun to be out for the day without him knowing he was in great hands with his Nana and Auntie and Gramps. I've noticed a bit of a drop in supply from being away from Noah all weekend and having to pump, but I am hoping it won't take too long to get it back to where it was. I used to be able to feed Noah in the morning and then shortly after pump 4-5 oz for his cereal and to store, now I am lucky if I get 1 oz!

It's been a wonderful month, full of time with friends and babies and mommies and our family! Looking forward to all the milestones that month #9 brings! xoxo

Baby Noah: 33 Weeks

Well it's been a busy week, one of my best friends is getting married this Saturday so last Saturday we had her stagette. It was also Noah's first night away from home...and I was so anxious and worried about that, on top of planning for the stagette and trying to get all my shit together. But everything went smoothly and Noah got along really well, so I feel better about leaving him again this Saturday for the wedding.

Weight: I am going to guess 20+ pounds. He's definitely slowed down lately, I haven't noticed much change in his weight for 2 months now.

Health: Other than his top left tooth trying to break through, he's been happy and healthy. His teeth seem to take forever to come through, the two top teeth have looked ready to come through for weeks now. There is a little white tip poking through today, so that's progress!
8 months down and still no real sickness, so thankful!

Sleep: He's been sleeping through the night occasionally, but most nights he is up once around 4am. It's been so hot here lately, so he's been sleeping alot of nights in just his diaper. He is easy to get back down with a little feed the nights he does wake. He goes down between 7-8pm, depending on the heat and some days will sleep-in past 7am. He is down to 2 naps a day, around 9am for 1.5-2 hours and around 1 or 2pm.

Social: Lots of walks, trips to our cottage, and trips to the park lately. Not too many play dates the past week...everyone is pretty busy. We're also enjoying having Daddy home more in the evenings since his busy season at work is done now.

Diet: Still bm 4 times a day every 4-5 hours, and solids twice a day at breakfast and supper. Also starting to introduce some snacks so he can feed himself, blueberries and mum mums or little pieces of bananas.

Clothes: All 12 months now, and size 3 diapers.

Baby Gear Love: Well the activity mat has been packed away, as has the bumbo now that he is sitting unassisted. The bouncy chair is also gone. He's loving anything with lights and noises. He is also mastering the sippy cup.

Likes: Swinging, and playing with things he shouldn't! (coasters, phones, remotes, napkins)..

Crying: He's been a bit more whiny this week than normal, I think due to his tooth coming through.

Postpartum: My hair is slowly growing back around my hairline, my little angel hairs. I hate it, but I guess that's what happens when you lose as much hair as I did after baby. It's going to look some ridiculous in an up-do this weekend for the wedding.

Had my first full day and night out with the ladies on Saturday, I quickly realized I have become a light weight. I've had the odd drink or two here and there, but I had 3 beer and 4 caesars on Saturday and my belly was not happy about it come 11pm. I rallied and made it out on the town but I had to switch to water, and bed felt so good at 2am. It was great being able to sleep in with hubs, and not have to worry about getting up at 6am with the baby. But I was very eager to get out to see him!! I had to pump until noontime Sunday until I was sure I had all the alcohol out of my system. So annoying to have to bring my pump everywhere with me, but that's the reality of a breastfeeding Mom. I didn't feed Noah until 4pm Sunday just to be sure.

Milestones: First night away from home, first time in baby pool. First time eating blueberries. Starting to plank a bit on his belly, crawling won't be too far off.

Baby Noah: 32 Weeks

Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians! I am a tad behind in posting lately but I've been busy enjoying every minute of summer with my little man.

Weight: 20 lbs.

Health: Well we officially had our first trip to the clinic this week. Little man broke out in a major rash on Thursday and was completely covered on his head (scalp), hair line, face, neck and back/belly. His head was so itchy he kept trying to scratch but was really just yanking on his hair and hurting himself. I was a bit worried it was something like chicken pox, but the doctor ruled that out. We didn't try any new foods for the past few days, no new lotions or creams or detergents. So we can't pinpoint the culprit. Hopefully it doesn't come back!

Sleep: Well we are down to 2 naps/day now. Typically 9am and 1pm. If we are on the go and in the car, he may have a little cat nap around supper hour in his car seat. We start bedtime between 6:45-7:30 and most nights he is down by 7pm. He goes down no problem after bath, story time with dad and nursing. We are still having good nights and bad. Some nights, he's only up once. Other nights, its multiple times. He is normally up for the day around 7am. We are trying to get him consistently sleeping better since we have to leave him overnight a few times coming up soon.

Social: This weekend is a long weekend to celebrate Canada Day, so we spent some time at the cottage with my parents, spent a day out in Souris visiting Tim's parents. Lots of walks, trips to the park, the odd play date here and there.

Diet: Breastfeeding 4 times a day and once overnight usually. Still eating 2 solid meals a day of purees or cereal, normally oatmeal mixed with banana in the morning or rice cereal and a fruit (pear, peaches, apples) and 2 veggies at supper or cereal with a veggie at supper. We are gradually introducing snacks (mum mum's, puffs, blueberries, etc) but he is not a huge fan of any of them so far. Also starting the occasional 3rd meal at lunchtime.

Clothes: All 12 months now mostly. He is between size 3 and 4 diapers.

Baby Gear Love: Well he is outgrown his activity mat. Tolerates his exercauser. We got him the Leap Frog Activity Table and he LOVES it.  Also loves books, and everything he shouldn't play with: utensils, coasters, kleenex, remotes, phones, etc.

Crying: When his teeth hurt or he is overtired. He has also become pretty attached, and occasionally doesn't want to play on his own. He will cry every time we put him down some days.

Likes: He likes to sit up and play. Sucking on his toes. Scooching around on his belly. Watching the kitty cat.

Milestones: offifially sitting in highchairs now at restaurants and loves being a part of the gang at the table. Not too much else new here. I would say we still have a good few weeks before he figures out the crawling thing. Still not showing any interest in pulling himself up on furniture or anything. No potential words yet either.

Postpartum: Not much new here.

I'll leave you with the sweetest picture ever! xoxo
